Anyone who likes tranquility and nature and spending time in the outdoors, is likely to go camping. But sometimes you just want a bit more comfort and style. And something that is really unique. Canopy and Stars contains a great collection of tree houses, yurts, cabins, Gypsy caravans and other outdoor, glamping places everywhere in Europe. We had the opportunity to try out this great concept! We have been to Brittany in France and have had a great experience at the campsite of Bot-Conan Lodge on the coast of Beg-Meil in Finistère.
Bot-Conan Lodge
The campsite, which is located directly on the beach of Bot-Conan, has a variety of accommodations which is spread over the extensive playgrounds. That makes this place really special.
The peace and quietness you experience here, make the stay so relaxing! You can choose from two different tents, such as the Safari tent, provided with comfortable beds, a closet, a mini kitchen, and a sitting area. And then there is the Atoll tent, with the same beds, but more basic. We spent our days in the Safari tent, which even had a stove, ideal for a rainy day when you want to warm up again. There are also several places in the sun, or just in the shade.
The terraces of the tents all feature an open kitchen with tools such as cutlery, plates, cups, pans and a gas burner, so no worries of fitting all the camping gear in the car. We could even make use of a small fridge which comes in quite handy!
The clean bathing and shower rooms in the field have a nice and natural design from the outside, but also on the inside. They feature luxury showers, toilets and wash basins. It also includes a laundry room with washing and drying machines.
Surroundings
The great thing about this campsite is that it lies directly on the beach. Within 1 minute from your tent, you can enjoy the sand around your feet on an idyllic sandy beach with crisp clear water that looks different each time, with the tide coming in and out. And while being surrounded by many small scenic boats, there is a great sunset to enjoy from the beach.
From this beach, you will also find the famous and beautiful hiking trail GR34 along the rocky coast with great views, that leads you to nice villages and stunning beaches such as Cap Coz and Beg Meil , which are definitely worth a visit!
At the campsite, you will find cute chickens walking over your terrace, picking up the left bread crumbs. In return, they will provide you with tasty eggs every morning. :) The hen houses are next to the herb garden at the farmhouse, from where you are free to pick all the ingredients to prepare a delicious barbecue. BBQ’s are available and free to use. After a nice meal, you can roast marshmallows at the campfire. They really thought things through here!
More things to do
Everything on this campsite has such a nice atmosphere and is also really great for children! For example, there is a pingpong table, there are small life jackets for canoe trips, a toy cable car, swing ropes, a football pitch, and a field where you can play badminton. In the farmhouse, they even created a nicely decorated playroom. Here you will find books, many toys and a warm fireplace for a rainy day. What more do you need?
Paddle on the sea with the available surfboards and canoes, or just enjoy a sunrise or read a good book on the beach, here you will find everything you need at Bot Conan Lodge. They even provide bikes during your stay. Every morning, you can enjoy some fresh bread from the local grocery store, which is easy to reach by bike. And on a rainy day, you can warm yourself up in the hot tub or by visiting the sauna, to have a refreshing jump in the sea after that.
Arnaud the owner, makes his round on the campsite every day for a chat to his guests to see if everyone is happy and enjoying themselves. What a fantastic place and what a great vision this man has, with still so many great ideas to fulfill. I would definitely recommend this place and I certainly hope to come back here again! Thank you Canopy and Stars for making this possible. It has been a truly unique and inspirational experience!
